In these fatal accidents, about 70 percent of those killed were drivers, almost 25 percent killed were passengers and pedestrians accounted for approximately six percent of fatalities.

Almost 40 percent of fatal accidents in Oklahoma involved a fixed object, such as guardrails or telephone poles. This number is almost equivalent to the percentage of fatal collisions involving more than one motor vehicle colliding with another.

Truck Accident Lawyers

Large truck accidents continue to rise in number every year, and it is already estimated that someone is either killed or injured in a large truck accident every 20 minutes. Because of such statistics, the federal government created the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) that regulates the trucking industry.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) are a set of rules that truck drivers and companies must comply with when operating trucks interstate and most of the time intra-state. An experienced Oklahoma personal injury lawyer who is familiar with truck accident cases will be able to determine if the proper FMCSRs were followed leading up to a truck accident. An experienced truck accident attorney also has the ability to get important records from a truck company or truck driver to help determine possible violations of the Regulations.
